Experience the beautiful Bornholm coastline and the Helligdomsklipperne (Sanctuary Cliffs) from the sea side aboard the old wooden ship M/S Thor, which has sailed on the coast for more than 100 years.

Boat trip with historic wooden ship

A boat trip with the historic tour boat M/S Thor, from Gudhjem Harbour along the rocky cliffs to the Helligdomsklipperne, is a great experience and ideal as a cozy outing for families with children of all ages, as well as for active elderly people.

M/S Thor berth at the Liebertsklippen below the Bornholm Art Museum, where we land and pick up passengers before we head back to Gudhjem.

Guided experiences and Viking tales

On the trip from Gudhjem to the Helligdomsklipperne, the skipper tells about the sights as well as legends from the Viking Age.

On the boat trip you can experience part of the unique Bornholm nature, including the Hestestenene, Blod Egil, Stevelen, Røstad beach etc.

M/S Thor sails close to the steep cliffs at Helligdommen, such as the Dry Oven, the Wet Oven, Lyseklippen, the Sanctuary Rock, Black Pot and other points of interest.

At a slightly further distance we pass a collection of ancient graves located on the beach. At Salene beach we also pass a couple of impressive walking rocks originating from the ice age, including one of Denmark's largest.

Hike on the Bornholm coastal path

Many choose a round trip, but you can also sail one way and hike back on the Bornholm coastal path. On the walk along the coast it is possible to take a break at Dines Little Maritime Café with views across the Baltic Sea to Christiansø and Gudhjem.

The most beautiful places of inspiration

Helligdomsklipperne is one of the most beautiful inspirational spots for the Bornholmer painters, and therefore a much used motif among art painters with historical connection to Bornholm.

Art painters

Here, Vilhelm Kyhn and Skagen painter Michael Ancher painted among others. Otto Haslund, Karl Isakson and especially Oluf Høst painted several motives from Gudhjem. On the way to Gudhjem is the favorite motive Bokul seen from the sea side. Not so rarely is Kasper Køje seen painting one of his favorite motives at Nørresand.
